yeah cause seeing 20 minutes of a game cant give you at all an idea of how it will look *shakes head*...i dont hate the style, but it DOES need to be changed. as one guy said, this is diablo not warcraft...DARK AND GRITTY!
oh and btw...please no full respecs! limited is ok...no complete respecing all the time.
We're all fans here, no need to shake heads and tell people they suck. But as FANS who spent a lot of time playing the game, I think it would behove us to realise that we probably spent most of our time replaying through the harder more rewarding areas - which were almost all that "darker, grittier gothic" feel people are screaming for. I doubt we'll be looking at vibrant colours as seen in the trailer for much of the games duration.
And for the record ... the oversized armour pieces I do think seem out of place, but the colours of the environment seem just fine to me. I can happily imagine a nasty spectral green light underground, or slaying bad guys above ground in sunlight.
I agree some change would be cool too.
You're gonna go make me sign that other petition aren't you? :P

or this one?

because i cant see any real similarities between art direction of this two games and what we know already about Diablo 3.
this whole "Blizzard change art direction" petition is pretty dumb.
At the very least the other petition requesting a change in direction was incredibly premature.
Given that D3 is still only a pre-release product that we've essentially been given a 20 minute preview (of what's possibly 50-100 hour game?).
I'm all for giving Blizzard a chance to develop a game with it's own identity. I've already got Diablo 2 ... if I just wanted the same game I'd just play that. I'm looking forward to a new story, and if they want to start it looking a little more lively than the last, more power to them.
I do though agree that the art direction as of present is satisfactory. To be honest, I figure a lot of people were all too used to Diablo 2's graphics. At the time of its release in 2000, its graphics were already somewhat lagging against technology. But as much as Diablo 2 was never specifically praised for its graphics, it was never criticized for it either. It was a case of the gameplay simply being infinitely addictive and enjoyable, and no one bothered much about the graphics being outdated. I guess with us being in 2008 and graphics rendering being as advanced as it is, the new look of Diablo 3 came as a slight surprise to some people. I've mentioned before on diablofans.com that I imagine there'll be plenty of gothic in Diablo 3, with a fair share of fantasy, too (in the sense of vibrant, lush colors and so on). I have to admit, I was slightly surprised for a few moments too when the first few seconds of the gameplay video rolled by and I found myself almost asking "is this Diablo?". The look was unfamiliar to a certain degree; however, I was in awe when the barbarian and witchdoctor exited the dungeon and stepped out into a beautiful, breathtaking outdoor environment. It was something to behold.
Anyway, without making too much of a story of it - I think the current art direction is a-ok.
*waits for next petition*
PLEASE Blizzard do not change ANYTHING! I LOVE how the D3 looks. Ive been playing D2 since it came out (whats that, 8 years now?) and I'm SO excited for D3! EXCELLENT JOB!!!!
Don't listen to this crap about making it 'darker', the game looks wonderful, scary & beautiful! All of those so called 'better redone images' are just white-washed and look like crap.
If you feel the same, sign the petition against the other petition. This game is freaking sweet the way it is!

A: Gothic Cathedrals are filled with vibrant colors, due to the heavy use of stained glass windows and vibrant furnishings, blah, blah, blah..."
Too bad, that in the gameplay video, the shown location is Forgotten fucking TOMBS, not a cathedral. So get your facts straight, retard. You are some fucking 13 yo wow-kid who is uncapable to understand arguments in this dispute. Go cut yourself.
PS: If the tombs look like fucking disco, they better discontinue this game.
but that rainbow ruined my respect for the Diablo III artwork
No real fan would betray the Diablo Trilogy
What the hell. Bright and vibrant ? Excuse me, did you actually play the game ?

Now take a look at this and dare tell me that the zombies do not look copy/pasted onto the screen and completely out of place :

Just *love* the changes in D3. Keep up the good work Blizzard - take your time and get it right!
Thene everone can make his own choise - dark or colorful Diablo 3.
The concept art is pretty great, though, it'd be a shame if the in-game art abandoned its style. Anyhow, just my two cents.
The development team ( namely Pardo ) said they already tested other looks and visual styles for the game, and they all didn't work including D2 look, because making a game very dark in 3D makes it look rubbish, and using dark colors and sharp contrast like in the altered pics makes the game distracting and painful to the player's eyes which affects the gameplay negatively.
Diablo wasn't really much of a horror game, it was an action hack & slash game with an eerie atmosphere, and that atmosphere is still there, but in a different way, live with it guys ^_^
Keep it up Blizz
Diablo to me, the first one, was dark and atmospheric. I got over the fact that Diablo2 looks like an anime cartoon in comparison to the first, I'll also get over Diablo 3 having actual colours that aren't black or red, too. Gameplay is what is more important, and until I've played it I will reserve judgement and not call people fags cause they have opinions that differ from my own.
They dont mean dark as in the amount of light dumbass. Well maybe light radius which they still need. It means dark as in evil sadistic and atmospheric.
The only vibrant color I want to see is BLOOD which is covering the floor that is littered with bodies that do not disappear. I want to see impaled corpses and hear babies screaming in the distance. Most of the creatures should be demons or undead that are scary as fuck.
